Team Ohio to Partner with Nationwide Children's Hospital Sports Medicine
Team Ohio is proud to announce a new partnership with Nationwide Children’s Hospital Sports Medicine.  They will also serve as a sponsor for the Nike Challenge Cup.  During the tournament, Nationwide Children’s will be on site to provide treatment for players.  While they’ll be quite visible during the tournament, they’re partnership with the club extends beyond the tournament.
  • Each month, Senior Athletic Trainer, Kerry Waple will provide us with valuable information on injury prevention, nutrition and other relevant youth sports training topics to keep club parents, coaches and players educated.
  • During team camp in August, an athletic trainer will be on site to provide parent education on injury prevention and nutrition.
One Team Ohio player has already benefited from the treatment at Children’s Sports Medicine.  Eric Osswald, a U16 boys player, was treated for a hip avulsion or fracture of the growth plate in the hip.  His mother, Ann Marie Hunker had this to say about their experience, "We were very impressed with the doctors and therapist, their approach to his injury and future injury prevention.   While Eric wanted to get back into the net ’yesterday,’ Dr. Rodenberg, a former soccer player impressed upon him how important full recovery was to his longevity in the sport of soccer.    He went through 6 weeks of complete inactivity, moved to regular physical therapy and then on to functional rehabilitation with an athletic trainer where his therapy consisted of ’soccer’ training.  They have a state of the art sports medicine facility in Westerville.  Upon being released, Dr. Rodenberg told him that flexibility in his hips and hamstrings will go a long way towards reducing the chance of future injuries.  A couple of months later, we took our daughter there for a gymnastics injury.  Overall, we’ve had two very positive experience with Nationwide Children’s Sports Medicine."
