Team Ohio FC Juniors Academy

What is Team Ohio FC Juniors Academy?

The Team Ohio FC Juniors Academy is designed as a fun introduction to soccer for boys ages 4-7. The CORRECT techniques of passing, dribbling, shooting, heading, receiving, tackling, and goalkeeping will be taught. All sessions will also include playing small-sided games with instruction on some basic habits of the game. Many players who started in this program format now play on elite teams in the Team Ohio FC club. This program is designed as a supplement to regular team soccer, not as a replacement. We feel that teaching young players correct technique FROM THE START helps them find it more easy to progress to more advanced skills as they get older.

Staffing
The Team Ohio FC Juniors program will be under the supervision of Gerry D’Arcy, Youth Director of Coaching for Team Ohio FC. Gerry is a USSF A licensed coach and is also head soccer coach for men at Otterbein College. Fall coaches will also work with the program. All understand the appropriate approach to take with young players to improve their confidence and their abilities. We are here at the “turn on” phase and we want to make sure that the players stay “turned on” to the “great game” of soccer.

Nutrition for the Active Athlete in All of Us
No matter what your competition level, nutrition is key for fitness.  Here are some basics:
  • Eating for fitness means low fat, higher carbs and plenty of fluids.
  • Carbs are the main source of energy for working muscles.
  • There is no “Magic Meal”. One good meal before the game can’t make up for bad eating habits.
  • The pre game meal should be easy to digest, not make the stomach work harder.
  • Over the counter suppliments are not regulated by the FDA. Don’t be fooled by the sales pitch.

Team Ohio FC Ranked #17 Boys Club in Country by Soccer America

On January 31, Soccer America announced their top 25 boys and girls youth soccer clubs for 2008.  Team Ohio FC came in at number 17!  This is an outstanding accomplishment for the club, its players and its coaches.  Team Ohio was the only club from the entire state of Ohio (both Ohio South and Ohio North) to make the list.

This is Soccer America’s fifth year to publish the list.  All teams selected were USYSA teams.  Selections were based on success of the club teams over the past three years and by the number of players selected to U.S. National Teams.

Soccer America had this to say about Team Ohio FC, "
The program’s Mutiny team, seventh at the 2006 Manchester United Premier Cup, had three players in last fall’s U.S. U-17 residency program, including 16-year-old defender Kofi Sarkodie, who represented the USA at the 2007 Under-17 World Cup. In 2007, Team Ohio FC won five state cup championships. Rising Star: 15-year-old midfielder Aaron Horton."  For a detailed look at the article announcing these teams and a complete boys and girls list go to socceramerica.com.  Or visit US Youth Soccer.

Contgratulations to all coaches, players and parents for making our club tops in the nation!
